Rocketships and Voting

Over 30 years ago we sent rocketships to the moon with men on it, and
they came back without a scratch. 5 years ago, Probes to Mars left
Earth and sent pictures back. Why is it that they can't properly count
ballets in an election unless its intentionally compromised?
